Carrie never met a stranger. She constantly gave of herself to help people and to serve the Lord. She adored her Pastor and Church family. She was always happy and she loved to sing, dance and spend time with her family and grandkids. Her best friends and confidants were Jennie Ruth Phillips, Laura Ann Jamerson and Millie Schenck. She loved traveling, going to the movies and spending time with her best friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her fosters parents who reared her, Crate and Irene Surratt; her husband, William Albert Surratt; a son, Douglas Surratt; two sisters, Doris Wilson and Mildren McSwain and two brothers, Alfred Twitty and John L. Twitty.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Raymond Roger Surratt of Shelby, NC, Barbara Surratt of Cleveland OH, William Albert Surratt (Sue) of Shelby, NC, Helena Surratt Toms (Chuck) of Lexington, NC, Shirley Marie Williams of Charleston, SC and Ivin L. Surratt of Forest City, NC; her siblings, Laura Jamerson (Charles) of Shelby, NC, Imogene Lowery (Jerry) and Beatrice McGill both of Gastonia, NC, Felicia Surratt of Charlotte, NC, Juanita Surratt, Punice Surratt and Iva Jean Petty all of Shelby, NC; sister-in-law, Jennie Ruth Phillips of Shelby and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral service for Ms. Surratt will be private. She may be viewed from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Friday, January 15, 2021 at S. T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. Burial will take place at Green Bethel Baptist Church cemetery.
