Obituary For Josephine Toms

Josephine Jefferies Toms got her wings, January 8, 2021. She was born in Spartanburg, SC.

Mrs. Toms attended Carver High School.

She was a member of New Pilgrim Baptist Church.

Josephine retired from Hochest Fiber where she worked for over thirty years.

She enjoyed singing in the Choir, she had aspirations of being a singer, playing cards, going to the casino, and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Toms loved a good laugh and had a laugh that tickled your soul.

She leaves behind: her daughter, Paulette Wilson; her sisters, Mary “Lucille” Gilliam and Penola “Kitty” Bennett; her grandchildren, Tyrone Briggs, Fashion Brandon, Paul Wilson, Brandon Jeter and Jamil Butler; her nieces, Sharon Gilliam and Bridgett Gilliam; her special great-niece, CoAsia Gilliam; other great-nieces and great-nephews, Corie Gilliam, Torrence Gilliam; and host of great-grandchildren.

Josephine was preceded in death by: her parents, Hattie Jefferies and Willie Caldwell Jefferies; her son, Paul Wilson; her brothers, Willie Mack “Bill” Jefferies and Tommy Jefferies; her nephew, Calvin “Spanky” Gilliam; her niece and nephew, Penola “Lynn Bennett and Michael Bennett; and a host of other relatives.

A Celebration of the Life of Josephine Jefferies Toms will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside at The New Pilgrim Baptist Church Cemetery, 5040 Rainbow Lake Road, Campobello, SC 29322.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at The John Stinson Woodward Memorial Chapel, 602 Howard Street, Spartanburg, SC.
