Mr. James A. Searcy
Passed 01/07/2021
Deacon. James A. Searcy was born to the parents of the late Mrs. Georgia Ann Walker Searcy and the late Mr. Robert E. Searcy on October 4, 1947 in Thomaston, Upson County, GA. He attended school in the Upson County School System and graduated from Drake High School with the Class of l965. James was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and a member of the Usher Board. James met the love of his life, Ms. Ionie Akins, and they were united in holy matrimony on December 1, 1968. To this union, two children were born. One of their children, James Searcy, Jr., preceded him in death. James was a loving husband and father who was devoted to his family. He raised three of his nieces in a home filled with love. His heart was open to them, as if they were his very own. Ionie and James were committed to their marriage vows; and, in sickness and in health, they shared fifty-two wonderful years together. He truly loved his family. James was employed by the Upson Regional Medical Center. During his tenure there, he served in the capacity of Pathology Assistant and later as an Orthopedic Technician. He was always willing to train and learn how to perform his job more efficiently. He attended Upson Technical College, where he earned certification as a Paramedic. He also received certification through the Medical College of Georgia for Core Disaster Life Support. His true calling was to work in the medical field and taking care of patients. He was compassionate, loving, patient, kind and sympathetic as he cared for them. He also performed private care services for patients in need. James served a span of fifty-one years at the medical center. He received high honors for his service, and he was highly respected and loved by everyone he encountered. He retired from his career on July 7, 2020. James was preceded in death by his parents; one son; and two brothers, Willie Cleve Searcy and Archie Searcy. On Thursday, January 7, 2021, God sent His angel and told James that everything was now ready for him. His spirit took flight, and he went home to rest from his labor. He will be greatly missed by his family, co-workers, friends, and all who loved him.
James leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Ionie A.
