Ms. Dorothy Gean Carter, 60, Gadsden, passed away Wednesday, January 13,2021. The Obituary Dorothy was born on June 26, 1960 in Gadsden Alabama to the late Nellie Thornton and O’Neil Thomas. She received her education through the Gadsden school system and Litchfield High School. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age was a devoted member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Gadsden, AL. She was committed to working for the Lord by volunteering her time whenever and wherever she was needed. She was devoted and dedicated and could always be counted on if called to duty.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Jimmie Charles Willingham and they were devoted to each other for more than 35 years. To this union five beautiful children were born. Though they would later divorce, they remained the best of friends and were equally committed to raising their children together. She was employed with the Etowah County Courthouse where she dedicated her services for over ten years. Dot had a passion for helping the elderly and enjoyed working with R.S.V.P. where she volunteered her time assisting and helping the residents at Gadsden Healthcare, Northside Healthcare, Attalla Healthcare, Paden Assisted Living, Mountain Cove Assisted Living, McGufey Healthcare and Coosa Valley Healthcare. She put her heart and soul into everything she did. It was important to her to ensure the residents were comfortable. Known as the Fashion Queen, the staff and residents always looked forward to her arrival donning a big smile, a hearty hello and see what their fashion model would be wearing next. She loved them and they loved her. For four years, she walked the red carpet in the Gadsden Healthcare Fashion Shows. Dorothy was quite the social butterfly who loved taking family vacation and going on mini excursions with her beloved ladies’ group, Martini’s & Bikinis. It didn’t matter what trip she was going on, Dot and her favorite sidekick Donna K could always be counted on the pack up their car with everything but the kitchen sink! If you forgot it, they had it. Dorothy and Donna were like two peas in a pod, you wouldn’t see one without the other and they would always be spotted somewhere together, out shopping, dining or going to play Bingo. And if he were lucky enough Danny got to tag along. Like her mother before her, Dot loved to go fishing, most times at the Dam in Leesburg, Alabama. And when she had done enough for the day, she would settled down with her tablet for some quiet time and a game of Casino Slots.

Dorothy was the matriarch of her family and was devoted to her children. They were her pride and joy and she was their Queen. On January 13, 2020, Like a Thief in the Night, God! in his infinite wisdom would call His Angel from labor to reward. Dorothy is preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Sue Beavers.
