There aren't words to say the loss I feel with this sad news of Albert leaving our earthly realm. I first knew him through the Democratic Party, which his work when he took on the leadership kept from falling into shambles. He became a friend, a friend I relied on for caring and common sense. His dynamic presence will be sorely missed by Spartanburg overall and by the many, many people he's helped, as attorney & Deacon. Kate Landishaw

May the sustaining grace or Jesus Christ uphold you, now and always.I first knew Albert Smith as Prince Albert on WSPA AM . as he broadcasted late night, and the very early morning hours.I saw Albert on many occasions when I worked in The Registration, and Election Commission Office. Albert was the stellar reporter, and consummate gentleman.May God's Peace comfort you. Rev. Dr. Booker T. Sears, Jr Goodwill Baptist Church Bronx, N Y

With Albert's passing, a ray of God's light was moved from this realm and tucked into the heavens to shine on forever, and though the truth of this is heartbreaking, there's comfort in knowing his presence is eternal now. We will never forget his voice and deep kindness, or how seeing him was never like seeing a friend in passing but like walking into the arms of family. Just as God is with us "even to the end of the age" we know his legacy lives on (Matt 28:20). How blessed we are in our grief to have known such an extraordinary and loving man. Continued prayers for all those who are hurting and to those who will press on as his memory prevails. - Love, Ashley Brackett and Family

I knew Albert when he was a cub reporter for WSPA in Columbia while he was finishing Law school. If there was ever a gentleman, it was Albert Smith. I was not a close coworker with Albert at WSPA as I worked in AM Radio bookkeeping, but Albert knew us all from AM, FM and TV. I grieve along with the Smith family with his passing. He was a great role model for all of us and he will be missed, and heaven will be welcoming a man of genuinely good morals and character.
