Youlanda Cheree Flowers was born on Friday, January 3, 1969, in Los Angeles, California, to Barbara Flowers and Palmer Lee Hamilton. She began her Christian journey at an early age and gave her life to Christ. Her grandmother, Rosie Hamilton, and her mother, Barbara Flowers were instrumental in introducing Youlanda to Christ. Youlanda spent her early years in Leland, Mississippi, but graduated from Harlem High School in Chicago, Illinois. By being the middle child, she regularly helped with raising her younger siblings. This caring and nurturing was so natural for her; therefore, it was no surprise to those who knew her well when she decided to entered nursing school to become an LPN (licensed practical nurse). Then she would be able to take care of those who were hospitalized. When she moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where she lived for over 30 years, her career of choice found her working at University of Louisville Hospital and in Injury Care Chiropractic doctor’s office until she became ill.

Also known as Yogi, Shorty, Yoyo, to family and friends, she enjoyed so many things like playing solitaire, watching any karate or paranormal movies, listening to old school music, dancing, drinking Pepsi, spending time with family and friends, and constantly cleaning. There might be some who would refer to her as OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder) since she was constantly making sure everything was in its proper place. Youlanda was also blessed with a wonderful sense of humor so much so that she could turn a frown upside down.

She was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Rosie Hamilton and Pearlie Steen Jordan, mother, Barbara Flowers, and brother, Oliver Buck. Sadly, on Tuesday, January 5, 2021, Youlanda Cheree Flowers departed this life. She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Victor Flowers and Barbara Flowers; father, Palmer Lee Hamilton; siblings, Sandra Buck, Jonathan Buck, Tameka Flowers, Christopher Lee, Shirell Goodson, Ruby Goodson, Shanna Perry; three grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends.
