Mrs. Towanda Michelle Hickman- Carter, 49 of Jacksonville, Alabama. passed away on Wednesday January 13th, 2021 at her residence. Survivors include her loving and attentive husband Harry Carter Jr. of Jacksonville. Her only biological child Taleigha Whitaker of Jacksonville. Step-children Brianna Carter(Nelson) of Sylacauga, AL and Brandon Tolson of Anniston. Her mother Edna(Carlos) Jones of the Saks Community. Her siblings Tamara Hickman of Jacksonville. Tiffany(Bryant)Gaines of Oxford. Michael(Earnestine) Carter of the Saks Community. Her nephews Christopher Vincent Jr. Andrew Vincent and Antonio Jones all of Anniston. Her niece Addison Gaines of Oxford. Her granddaughter Abigail Carter of Anniston and her precious fur-baby Hayley. Mrs. Carter received her education in various states and abroad. She was a 1990 graduate of Saks High School. She worked as a certified nurse assistant for many years until she became a wife and mother. Mrs. Carter had a green thumb, was an avid reader and animal lover. She was always thinking of others and frequently sent cards on special occasions or simply just because. She was known for her daily devotion on facebook messenger or by text message. Mrs. Carter accepted Christ into her life at a young age. She was a member of Miracle Temple. Mrs. Carter was very active in her church and was mentored by Pastor Jammy and First Lady Myra Thomas. She was a devoted servant of God all of her life and will surely be missed by all those who shared a moment or conversation with her. Mrs. Towanda Hickman-Carter was preceded in death by her father Ret. SGM Eddie L. Hickman. Maternal grandparents John Wesley and Josephine Durant. Paternal grandparents George and Bertha Hickman. The family of Mrs. Towanda Michelle Hickman-Carter, would like to extend a very special thank you to: Dr. Shaber and staff. Dr. Salame and staff. Dr. Crawford and staff. AND Dr. Jennifer Vincent and staff. Mrs. Carter's viewing will be held on Wednesday January 20th, 2021 from 2:00p-6:00p at Goodson's Funeral home in Anniston, Ala. Graveside service will be held on Thursday January 21st, 2021 at 11:00 a.m at Maple Grove Cemetery located on 431 N. in Anniston, Alabama. Pastor Jammy Thomas officiating.
