Obituary For Mr. Roscoe Gilmore

Mr. Roscoe Arthur Gilmore, Jr., the youngest of four children, made his transition from this life to life eternal on Friday, January 15, 2021 at his residence. He was born in High Point, NC, on July 12, 1959, a son of the late Roscoe Arthur Gilmore, Sr. and Minnie Taylor Gilmore. He was also preceded in death by a special aunt, Louise Taylor.

Roscoe attended the public schools of High Point, NC and was a 1977 graduate of High Point Central High School. He was an employee with Marsh Furniture Co., retiring in 2009. Roscoe was everyone’s favorite school bus driver. He had a passionate love for music, cars, going to the park and feeding the ducks and being around water. He was a life-long member of Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served as the Sound Technician for the church and sang on the Memorial United Methodist Men’s Choir.

Roscoe united in marriage to Sandra Dunlap on September 23, 1983...the love of his life and his soulmate.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Sandra Dunlap Gilmore of the home; a son-nephew, Louis Gilmore of Charlotte, NC; three sisters, Patricia Gilmore Townsend, Alicia Gilmore Gathings and Rosalind Gilmore, all of High Point, NC; his mother-in-law, Ms. Mattie Dunlap (aka to Roscoe as “Lucy”) of High Point, NC; a brother-in-law, Pastor Timothy Simmons of High Point, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A private funeral service will be held, Friday, January 22, 2021 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. Mr. Gilmore may be viewed on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
