Born John William Moore Jr. to the late John William Moore, Sr. and Suzieonn Claybrooks Moore, on October 2, 1947 in Madison, NC. John graduated from Charles R. Drew in 1965 and immediately began working. He worked for Washington Mills, where he met the love of his life, Jaqueline Carter and they married in 1968. John then changed careers and began working for Burlington Industries in 1972, which later became Unifi. It was there he worked to provide for his family until he retired in 2014. After retiring, John made it his mission in life to help others in any capacity he could. He was well known for being a gentle giant and always being willing to lend a hand. His compassion for others was unmatched, he served the Lord through his actions and the way he lived his life, though he was unable to make it to church often. Always the one to see the good in the bad, make a joke to put a smile on someone’s face, and always picking on the little ones. “Big John” as he was often referred to will be terribly missed.

He leaves to mourn: sons; Stacy of Virginia (Tara), Eric and Jonnie of Eden, NC, Isaiah of the home, daughter; Niki of Kansas City, MO, sister; Connie of Eden, NC, brother; Frank (Evelyn) of Madison, NC. Three brothers-in-law; Roger (Janet), Jerry, James (Pam), and two sisters-in-law; Joyce (Melvin), and Vicky (Gino Sr.). John also leaves behind eight grandchildren, Janel, Adrienne, and Deavion, AJ, Imani, Zaria, Stefani, and Ernest, and one great-grandson, Asriel, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and great-great nieces nephews and great great nieces and nephews behind to mourn.
