A candle is lit in honor of a great lady who inspired so many people in her lifetime and in her death. The lesson is can we live the balance of our lives being true to ourselves and caring out the mission that God has placed in side of us. Remembering Flo will be the example. We must now pick up the mantle and continue to march until our times come. yvonne d jackson, rocky mount, nc. in memory of Flo's good friend in the early years-Frances E Saunders-Mt.Pleasant, S.C.

I met Flo when I moved to Perry, GA, and began attending bible study in Warner Robins. We also visited others in several nursing homes in the WarneRobins area. Flo had a beautiful voice and sang at church and nursing homes, often. When I visited her at the Lodge, she always had such a sparkle in her eyes. She was a faithful Bible Study Angel, too meeting every Tuesday until her health failed. Much love FAMILY, SHE WILL BE MISSED😘 Love you - Hazel Mahone

In addition to being my sorority sister, Florence Mitchell will always remain in our hearts as one of our children's most memorable teachers. Our son Anthony was blessed to be in Flo's classroom as a sixth grader at Robins. The lessons she imparted him are still with him today. We will always remember her for her love and passion for molding young minds. She will truly be missed. The Swygerts of Bonaire

Mrs. Mitchell was and is the inspiration for my career in education. She has been the gold standard for all an educator should be: hardworking, full of integrity, compassionate, full of grace, a model of lifelong learning, curious, creative, passionate about our youth and confident and hopeful for the future. Thank you Mrs. Mitchell for loving me so well, holding me accountable, and teaching me by example what a person of faith does and says! I remember our prayers during school and our motto of "I am somebody because God doesn't make no junk!" May we carry your legacy of love and God's light into our daily lives. Blessings to your family. Love, Tawanna Martin Rusk 6th grade student at Robins Elementary

The Hill family was Blessed to know Mama Flo as we affectionately called her through Christ United. When my husband and kids and I decided to join the church Mama Flo stood with us as our family member and that's how she got to be our Mama Flo!! My husband and I would occasionally check on her during bad weather or if she missed service and she was always so glad that we checked on her. My children Kelvyn and Kye who are 16 and 13 now both were in The Little Angels choir where Mama Flo was the director. She was Amazing and often tried to recruit me into her Amazing sorority because she said I had that spark. I never took her up on that offer but was always flattered!! We send love and prayers to her family!! The video of her doing what she loves best is on my Facebook page under my username Foezell Hill. We love you Mama Flo now you can direct the choir of Angels in Heaven😘💓💓

I was blessed to have such a wonderful person in my life if only for a very short time. Flo was in my bible study class, among other activities, with me at Christ United Methodist Church. Flo had the gift to be able to know the correct words for any prayer or blessing. Her words were always beautiful and touched everyone's heart. Flo, I will miss you and look forward to us being together again some day.

I have many fond memories of spending my summers with her learning etiquette, and attending vacation Bible school. Jamal and I were especially blessed to have her officiate our wedding. My Aunt Florence was very special and I will miss hearing her call us Nanty's precious babies. I love you, Makini

I was devastated to hear of this wonderful lady's passing. There are not enough words to say what she meant and still means to me. I was a student in her 1972 sixth grade class at Robins Elementary. She taught me so much that year, not only academics, but so many life lessons and skills. She gave a lonely fat girl a reason to, well, live. She believed in my abilities, so I had no choice, but to believe in myself. I became a teacher because of her. She was a great mentor. I love you Ms. Mitchell. Fly high!
