Obituary for Jayronzi McIlwain, Jr.

Jayronzi McIIwain, Jr., 54, known as Joe to some family and friends, entered eternal rest on January 15, 2021 at Atrium Health Hospital in Monroe, NC. He was born on August 15, 1966 in New York to Annie Grace Mingo and the late Jayronzi McIlwain, Sr. Joe joined Mt. Carmel AME Zion Church at a young age. He also attended Resurrection Church of Monroe, NC.

Joe was educated in the New York City school system. He graduated from Lafayette High School in NY. He was employed at Pilgrim Pride Food Company in Marshville, NC.

Joe leaves to cherish his memories five daughters, Jalissa McIlwain of Lancaster, SC, Jasia Griffin, Jalynn Griffin, Jakeria Crowell and Jada McIlwain all of NC; four sons, Derrick (Tyesha) Brown of Kershaw, SC, Laquan, Jayquan and Jayquruis McIlwain all of NC; his mother, Annie Grace Mingo of Lancaster, SC, seven grandchildren, Jahmad, De’Nyis, Jayce, Jakaylee, Julien, Kimari and Kailyn; one sister, Jacqueline McIlwain of NY; two brothers, Keeneth McIlwain of NY and Johnny McIlwain of VA; many aunts, uncles and a special friend, Erica Crowell.

Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 23, 2021, 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel A.M.E. Zion Church with burial in the church cemetery. Services will be conducted by Reverend Dr. B.L. Stinson.

Viewing will be 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2021 at Stewart Funeral Home.
