Obituary For Luna Lewis

Luna M. Jefferson Lewis “Sister” was born October 4, 1935, to the late Malcolm and Thelma E. Jefferson. Luna was an active member of Eastern Star Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the choir, the Memphis District Association, pulpit committee, clean-up committee, and the cafeteria committee. Luna graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1953. She attended Memphis Technical School of Business. She was a long-time employee of The Medical Group and was also a member of ABWA. Luna was married to Charles Lewis for forty-six years; he preceded her in death. Luna leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters, Bettye Jefferson and Dorothy Washington, both of Memphis, Tennessee; two brothers, Grady Jefferson of Brooklyn, New York, and Robert Jefferson of Memphis, Tennessee; a “special” daughter, Teresa Garrett; fifty-five nieces and nephews, to whom she was affectionately known as “Tee-Tee”; and a host of other beloved relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Watson, and her brother, Malcolm Jefferson, Jr.

A viewing is scheduled for 10 am until service of celebration at 12 pm Thursday January 21, 2021 at R. S. Lewis and Sons 2944 Walnut Grove Rd. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Luna was a sweet and wonderful person. I enjoyed being in the Shelby Pines Chapter of the American Business Women's Associated with her. She was a great friend to my grandmother, Jimmie Hooks.
