Gilbert attended the Marlboro County Schools in South Carolina. He furthered his education at Weldon University, where he received an associate degree in mechanics. He later moved to High Point, NC, where he united in marriage to Henrietta Tillman in August 1972. Gilbert retired from Mickey Body Trucking after 25 years of service as a mechanic.
He leaves to cherish his legacy and memories on earth, his wife of over 48 years, Henrietta “Sue” T. Jackson of the home; one son, Gilbert (Lakisha) Jackson, Jr. of Concord, NC; six daughters, Jackie Tillman of the home, Flora Miles of Albemarle, NC, Tracy Glasgow of Richmond, VA, Donna Lyn Jackson of High Point, NC, Pamela Jackson (fiancé Harold) of Raleigh, NC, Kamaria Roberts of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Linda Jackson McIntyre of High Point, NC; an aunt, Mrs. Doretha (Rev. Samuel) McCormick of High Point, NC; eighteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; best friends, William “Hamp” Bullard and Andy Flannery, who will truly miss him; other relatives and friends.
A private graveside service will be held, Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Guil-Rand Memori Park. Mr. Jackson may be viewed on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
