Obituary For Garthell Manns Stanley

On Thurday, January 21, 2021, God in His Infinite wisdom saw fit to call from labor to reward Garthell Manns Stanley. She was born in Henry County, VA on August 16, 1939, the daughter of the late George Willie Manns and the late Gaynell Manns Manns.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Stanley; one son, Victor D. Stanley; two sisters, Eliza Blount and Lucille Martin; and five brothers, Andrew Manns, Jesse Manns, Jimmy Manns, Joe Lewis Manns, and Roger Dillard.

Garthell was a member of Waterway Apostolic Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, where she served as an Usher, and on the Choir. She worked for Dee's Drug Store, Bassett, VA for many years and retired from Bassett Superior Lines, after many years of service.

Garthell leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Cynthia Dodson of Martinsville, VA and Deedra Stanley of Greensboro, NC; two sons, Casey D. (Capricia) Stanley of Greensboro, NC, and Marvin D. Stanley of Bassett, VA; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Willie Hairston, Dorothy Hughes, Ida Via all of Bassett, VA and Ruth Bimbo of NY; three brothers, George Manns, Jr., William Manns both of Bassett, VA, and David Manns of Chatham, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, with Bishop Joel Johnson, Eulogist. A public viewing will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Hairston Funeral Home between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering and social distancing is required. All other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home, 2490 Sunset Dr., Bassett, VA. Burial will follow at the Stanley Family Cemetery, Bassett, VA.
