Obituary For Mrs. Dosha Bentley, 73

Dosha was the 2nd child in a family of 12. She graduated from Leon High School and received a Cosmetologist license from Lively Vocational Tech. She later earned a degree in Commercial Cooking and Baking and used her skills to serve Thomas County schools, where she later retired with distinction.

Dosha was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a heart for those in need and was a faithful member and servant leader for over 40 years with the American Legion Auxiliary - Post 519 and Daughters of I.B.P.O.E. of the W. Through dedication and selfless service to others Dosha rose in the ranks and served as the Recording Secretary for Kelley Rose Temple #1005 and Southern District Council of Georgia; Daughter Ruler; Ebenezer Lodge Antler Guard Company E: Company Clerk; Georgia Brigade: Recorder; Georgia State Association Daughters: Inner Guard; President of Leona Denson Past Grand Daughter Ruler Council; Grand Lodge: Registrar; Grand Temple: Marshall; Grand Temple I.B.P.O.E. of the W.; and Queen for Kelley Rose Temple # 1005, Southern District Council of Georgia, and Georgia State Association Daughters.

Dosha was very outgoing and went out of her way to help everyone. It is fair to say that she never met a stranger. Her smile would light up a room, and her laugh was contagious to those who heard it. She was also fiercely protective and immensely proud of her family whom she shared nothing but beautiful and often funny memories.

leaves to cherish these precious memories: one daughter – Lentincil Parker of Thomasville, GA and one son – Shon (Demeatrice) Bentley of Jacksonville, FL; ten grandchildren – Shoniece Bentley, Atlanta, GA; Shon Bentley, Colorado Springs, CO; Prishonna Bentley, Columbia, SC; DeJourni Parker, Thomasville, GA; Blayze Bentley, Jacksonville, FL; Kirstan and Kascidy Parker both of Thomasville, GA; Jai Nicole, Joi, and Sozo Bentley, all of Jacksonville, FL; two brothers – Roosevelt (Millie) Bentley, Whigham, GA, and Jim Jr. (Dessie) Floyd of Tallahassee, FL; five sisters – Ozell Williams, Thomasville, GA; Rev. Jimmie (John) Dickey, Tallahassee, FL; Rebecca (George) Watts and Mary Ann Floyd both of Atlanta, GA, and Joyce Bentley of Bartow, FL; five great-grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Dosha was preceded in death by her parents, Hesterine Williams Bentley Floyd and Arnold Bentley; stepdad, Jim Floyd, Sr.; sister, Alice Floyd; and brothers, Mitchell Floyd, Sr., James Floyd, and Alfred Hill.

Celebration of life will be held Saturday January 30, 2021 at 3pm at Centenary African Methodist episcopal Church in Tallahassee, Florida Where Reverend John H. Peck is Host Pastor , Reverend Charlie Ross Officiating Pastor, Reverend Jimmie Dickey Eulogist.
