The Obituary

Willie James Thomas, Jr. was born on August 5, 1957, in Brooks County, Georgia to Lucille Thomas and the late Willie James Thomas, Sr. of Dixie, Georgia. Billy attended and graduated from Brooks County High School in the class of 1975.

After graduating from high school, Billy decided to follow his passion and take up a trade at Thomas Technical Institute to become a “Brick Mason”. His work can be seen all around Brooks County and surrounding counties. He was a devoted husband, loving father, caring grandfather, and a MAN of strong faith. On July 2, 1998, he was joined in Holy matrimony to the love of his life, Mrs. Martha Faye Thomas.

Billy leaves a legacy of love and fond memories to be cherished by his devoted mother, Lucille Thomas; a caring sister, Nora Styles; two loving sons, Whitney Thomas and Nathan Mitchell; two devoted daughters, Pamela (Chris) Wright and Omesha Moore; ten loving grandchildren that meant the world to him, Shermari (Donte) West, Brandi Wright, Jakobee Mitchell, Ashley Mitchell, Kendrick Wilson, Keldrick Virgil, Cameron Virgil, Nykarius Mitchell, and Keyon Mitchell; four great-grandchildren he adored, Kynslei Garrett, Kendrick Wilson Jr., Malaysia Virgil, and Alaysia Virgil, a loving brother-in-law, Harris (Barbara) King; five aunts, Ebenezer Cannady, Lillie Mae (M.B.) Bryant, Marie Gross, Shirley Cannady and Gloria (Booker T) Rose; two uncles, Eddie (Mary) Ashley, and Wallace Cason.

Billy will be truly missed by his nieces and nephews who loved him dearly; Tisha Hardy, Stephanie (Demetrius) Mobley, Johnathan Styles, Michael Styles, Derrick Styles, Dominique Styles, Eston King, Michelle (Andy) Rogers, Travis Sanders, Nandrycka Albert, Daymar King, and Tymeka (Steven) Monroe; a host of great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends; two special cousins/brothers Gene Ashley and Kimble McNeil.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha Faye Thomas; two sons, Nykarius Keyon Thomas and Kendrick Lamar Virgil; father, Willie James Thomas, Sr.; brother-in-law, Stephen Styles, Sr.; sister-in-law, Gertrude Hanna; mother-in-law, Maggie McMillan; and nephew, Stephen Styles, Jr.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, January 23, 2021 at 11AM at 364 Ferris Road in Dixie, GA with Pastor Kassalando Brooks, eulogist and Pastor Calvin Williams, presiding. Burial will follow at First Elizabeth M.B. Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday at the Stevens-McGhee Chapel from 3PM-7PM.
