Obituary For Betty Turner

Betty Turner was born on September 3, 1940, in Sanford, FL, to the late Raymond and Goldie Brooks. After moving to Georgia, she became a dedicated member at Second Elizabeth Baptist Church. Her love for singing and Christ led her to be an active member in choirs throughout her life. As a young adult, she moved to Delray Beach, Florida, where her passion for children and entrepreneurship led her to open an early learning childcare facility.

She was married to the late Sam Christian. To this union, eight children were born. She later married the late Willie Lee Turner. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Albert Brooks, Effie Griffin, and Joyce Brown, as well as her beloved children, Sam Christian, Jr. (Gail), Janice Mitchell, Virginia Turner, and Taluman Turner.

Betty leaves to cherish her memories: her children, John Christian (Tammy), Jimmy Christian (Bonita, deceased), Gary Christian (Stephanie), Terrance Christian (Rebecca), Robby Christian (Tawanna), and Bobby Christian; her extended children, Joseph Key, Loretha Arnold, Dorothy Curry (Jimmy), Dorothy Houston, Barbara Turner-Johnson, Lashun Holloway (Lee James), John Turner (Alma), Willie James Turner, George Turner (Minnie), Gregory Turner, Coy Turner, Kenneth Davis, and Goddaughter, Sandra “Sweet Pea” Bell; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great- grandchildren, family members, and friends.

A celebration of life will be Sunday, January 24, 2021 at 2PM on the lawn of Calvary Christian Center with Pastor Bobby Christian, eulogist. Burial will follow in North End Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday at the Stevens-McGhee Chapel from 3PM-7PM. Visit this website or our Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home Facebook page to view a livestream of the celebration. Continue to keep the entire family in your daily thoughts and prayers.
