Mr. Sterling Fair

Mr. Sterling Dae Fair began his life’s journey August 8, 2004, at the Women’s Hospital in Greensboro, North Carolina. Sterling departed this earthly life on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, NC. He was the first son born to Reginald Fair and Vonetta Nichelle Fair of Winston-Salem, NC. He was also preceded in death by his great-grandmothers, Blanche Dewitt, Mary Elizabeth Fair, Frankie Gray and great-grandfather, James O. Holmes.

At an early age, Sterling’s teachers recognized his innate intelligence and zeal for learning. As an elementary school student at Caleb’s Creek, Sterling participated in the Academically Gifted Program. He maintained this status throughout his school career. Sterling attended Southeast Middle School and was a member of the Debate Team. He was an honor student at the Early College of Forsyth. Sterling was an outstanding player of the Glenn High School Football Team. He played as a defensive back. He was a longtime member of the Union Cross Bobcats Football team. His favorite NFL team was the Detroit Lions. Sterling also, had a love for track and was a member of the Winston-Salem Roadrunners Track Club. Sterling was very humble, compassionate, and loving person. His teachers remember him for his great smile and spirit. Most importantly, Sterling was a devoted big brother who would step in and make sure that he his younger brothers had lunches until they were old enough to do it on their own. He cared for their well-being and would quickly alert others of his brother, Saxen’s peanut allergy.

He is survived by his adoring parents, Reginald and Vonetta; his sister, Ianya Fair; his brothers, Saxen and Soren Fair; grandparents, Belinda Fair, Raphael Sams, Donald and Barbara Hall; great-grandmother, Betty Jo Holmes; uncle, Correy (Kachenia) Hall; a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, cousins, football family, track family and friends. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”Proverbs 3:5-6

A private graveside service will be held Friday, January 29, 2021 at Carolina Biblical Gardens.
