Obituary For Mr. Linzy Boatwright, Jr.

Linzy Boatwright Jr. was born to the late Linzy and Alice B. McCall Boatwright Sr. on July 19, 1940 in Dillon County, South Carolina. He peacefully departed this life at home on Tuesday, January 26, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.

Linzy Jr. attended the public schools of Dillon County, South Carolina. He was employed at Round & Son Corporation for several years. Later, he was employed at Wix Filtration, Inc. where he retired after twenty-five years.

Linzy was a faithful member of Manning Baptist Church for many years, where he served faithfully on the Deacon Board and he was awarded Man of the Year Award in 1988.

Linzy married the love of his life, Clara Bell Campbell on September 12, 1964, and to this union three children were born. Years later, he and his wife transferred their membership to New Faith Missionary Baptist Church where he continued to serve faithfully on the Deacon Board, as Chairman of the Deacon Board until his health began to fail.

Linzy was a mason with the Wonder Lodge #459 until he became of age and the Lodge retired him from his duties. On June 27, 2015 he was presented a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of his valuable dedication to our dream at Gordon Park in Newtown.

He was preceded in death along with his parents; two brothers: Edward Boatwright and Ray Boatwright; three sisters: Alberta McLain, Luetisha Williams and Mary Lou Dixon.

Linzy leaves to cherish his loving memories ~ his devoted wife: Clara Bell Boatwright of the home; his son: Linzy {Angela} Boatwright III; three daughters: Yvette Davis of Brooklyn, NY, Valerie D. Boatwright and Rondalyn {Gerome} McLeod all of Dillon, SC; a sister: Mary Alice Huggins of Dillon, SC; a special grandson: John Linzy {Erica} Jones; seven additional grandchildren: Whitney Boatwright, Kiarra Jones, Linzy Boatwright, Geronda McLeod all of Dillon, SC, Rejoice {Demarcus} England of Decatur, GA, Gerome {Kendra} McLeod Jr. of Columbia, SC and Shawndella Davis of Brooklyn, NY; eight great grandchildren: Janeja Jones, Nyliah Robertson, Janesha Jones, Kaiden Spann, King Jones, Cailyn Boatwright, Demarcus England, Jr, Gia McLeod and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends.
