Mr. Larry Joe Thomas, 77, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Meridian Health Care. He was born in Abbeville, SC on July 12, 1943, a son of the late Annie Belle Thomas. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Terry Lee Thomas, and Donnie Lee Thomas.

Affectionately known as “Slob” by his brothers, Larry was the oldest of six siblings. He was a self-employed professional truck and car buffer. Larry loved people. He loved to listen to gospel music. He played the guitar for The Golden Hearts by Pete Dixon. He attended Tabernacle Praise and Worship. He later became a member of For The Love of God Fellowship Church, where he served as a deacon and played the guitar.

He leaves to cherish precious memories, his children, Robert Thomas (Patricia) and Jimmy Thomas (Carolyn) of Anderson, SC, Larry Joe Dixon (Angela) of Charlotte, NC, La’Ron Wansley of Martinsville, VA, and Karen Steed of Winston-Salem, NC; his grandchildren, Shawna Dixon, Adeizia Simms and Jamisha Jordan; his siblings, John Thomas (Toby) of High Point, NC, Bobby Thomas (Wilma) of Greensboro, NC and Carrie Ann Thomas Brown of High Point, NC; his great-aunt, Willie Mae Thomas Quick of High Point, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A private funeral service will be held Friday, February 5, 2021 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel.
