OBITUARY:

Rosie Lee (Lon) Young was born the matriarch and backbone of her family. She started this extraordinary journey on August 24, 1927 in Tchula, MS where she was born to Sylvester and Dessie Jones.

In her youth she attended Mount Sinai School in Tchula, MS. Upon completing her education, she married George Brown with whom she produced two adorable children, Rosie Barrett and Robert Lee Brown. Having suffered the painful loss of her spouse early on, she later married Jessie Young, with whom she remained for many years. In the early 1980's she gave her life to Christ and joined Rock of Ages Church of God & Christ, subsequently joining El-Bethel Bible Way Apostolic Church in Tchula, MS, where she became a dedicated and longstanding member.

Rosie Lee enjoyed countless pastimes. However, her favorite included praying for and spending quality time with her family, cooking, baking, and faithfully attending church. She loved to entertain, both singing and piano-playing at her church for more than twenty years. A natural nurturer, she worked for several years as a health-care provider in Chicago, IL. She also cooked for various establishments in and around Tchula, MS.

Rosie Lee loved to laugh and lived a remarkable life. She finished this journey on January 28, 2021, in her home in Tchula, MS.

Rosie Lee was preceded in death by spouse, Jessie Young; her daughter, Rosie Barrett; her parents, Sylvester and Dessie Jones, and her siblings; Sylvester Jones II, Mary Jones, Levi Jones, Robert Jones, Willie Jones, Leroy Jones, and Lulabelle Wilson.

She will be fondly and forevermore remembered by her son; Robert Lee Brown of Detroit, MI; her sister; Rosetta Johnson of Little Rock, AR, and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews and friends.
