Reverend Maurice Watts, 60, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Providence Health Hospital in Columbia, SC. He was the son of Samuel Mingo, Jr. and Mary Ann Watts Gilchrist. Reverend Watts joined Bright Light Baptist Church at a young age. He was currently an associate pastor at Saint John Baptist Church in Columbia, SC at the time of his demise.

Reverend Watts was employed by the Reception Medical Clinic at Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC.

Survivors include his wife, Daphne Ann Louallen Watts; two daughters, LaShonda L. Eaddy and Hannah Patrise Watts; his parents; two granddaughters, Jillian A. Eaddy and Jordyn A. Eaddy; brothers, Larry Duncan, Darrell Mingo, Ricky Mingo, Reginald “Red” Watts, Sam Mingo III, Ron Truesdale, Anthony Gilchrist; sisters, Mesharon Watts Moore, Sherlynn Mingo, Adrian Harris, LaTese Mingo, Karen Mingo, and Sherrie Watts.

Funeral service will be Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 1:00 pm at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church 2393 New Hope Rd Heath springs SC 29058 with burial in the Lancaster Memorial Park Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Reverend Christopher Harris.

Viewing will be 3:00-6:00 p.m. Friday, February 5, 2021 at Stewart Funeral Home.
