Augusta, GA—Ms. Mary Garrett entered into rest Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held Monday, February 8, 2021 at 4:00 PM from W.H. Mays Mortuary Chapel. Public visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM prior to the service.

Ms. Mary Clyne Garrett was born to the parents of Blanche Jones and Herbert Garrett. She was born on May 18, 1951, in Augusta, Georgia. She was one of eight beautiful children.

Mary grew up helping her mother tend to her younger siblings. She was the second oldest of eight and the eldest sister. As a young child, she joined and was baptized at the North Augusta Baptist Church in North Augusta, South Carolina.

She attended Levi White School in her younger years. While enrolled in secondary public school, she met her first husband, Tracy Barnes, Jr. two sons were born of the marriage; Tracy Barnes III and Felino Cornelius Barnes.

Some years later, she married her second husband, Chad Leaster Hunter, and two daughters were born of the marriage, twins Whatina and Whalina.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Blanche Jones; father, Herbert Garrett, brother, Robert Lee and Elbert Jones.

She leaves to mourn her passing: two sons, Tracy Barnes and Felino (Toni) Barnes; two daughters, Whatina (Clayton) Sanders and Whalina Hulse; two sisters, Nancy (Lawrence)Anderson and Brenda Nkpejajahl; three brothers, Herbert(Jureen)Garrett, Jr., James (Jacqueline)Jones and Bobby (Catherine) Jones, Sr.; grandchildren, Tracy Montez Barnes, Felina Barnes, Jasmine Eunice, Uniqua Anderson, Malcolm Hill, Jason Hulse, Jasmon Hulse, and Jalen Hulse; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends and all of Barton Village family.
