Walter Hubert Geter (Slack)

Walter Hubert Geter (Slack)- was the second of eight children born to James and Mable Geter on November 24, 1940. Walter passed away on January 28, 2021 at U.T. Medical Center.

Walter was educated in the Knoxville School System and graduated from Nelson Merry High School in Jefferson City in 1958. After graduation, Walter enlisted in the U. S. Army and was given an honorable discharge from the military. Walter worked for Alcoa Aluminum Company.

He was preceded in death by parents James and Mabel Geter, brothers James Jr, Hebert, and John Geter, nephew David Geter Jr, sister-in-law, Cynthia Geter.

Left to cherish is memories, Wife Pauletta Geter, Sons Walter LaVon Geter, William Geter, Grandchildren, Dominique Booker, Breshya Geter, Aliayh Stone, Keion Malone, J. Erion Geter, Devoted sisters, Betty Batmon and Evelyn Geter, Brothers David (Claire) Geter, Charles Geter, sister-in-law Chelita Geter, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to include devoted friend Melvin Arnett.

Mr. Geter will lie-in-repose on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at the Unity Mortuary Chapel from 12:00 p.m.- 6:00 p.m. There will be a Graveside Service on Wednesday February 10, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the East TN Veterans Cemetery (John Sevier) with Military Honors officiated by Rev. Leroy Franklin. The family and friends will assemble at the Unity Mortuary at 9:45 a.m. to proceed to the Cemetery. Due to Covid restrictions, the family respectively asks that masks be worn and social distancing be practiced.
