Obituary For Gladys C. Hairston

Gladys Cassandra Hairston, 66, of Sellers St., Martinsville, VA, departed this life on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Martinsville, VA on October 8, 1954 to the late Frank Noel Hairston and Lillie Mae Still Hairston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Robinetta Pamela Hairston; and her loving aunt, Jacquetta S. Dillard.

She was a 1973 graduate of Martinsville High School and a graduate of Knoxville College. She taught for the St. Louis Public Schools, then resided and worked in New York City for several years before returning to Martinsville.

Despite her many struggles, Gladys loved and trusted the Lord. She was a member of St. Paul High Street Baptist Church in Martinsville.

Gladys is survived by one son, Jamie Wilson; three brothers, Frank (Cheryl) Hairston, Steve Hairston, and Dennis (Dwanda) Hairston; three grandchildren, Elijah, Eliyah, and Jeremiah; her uncle Andrew (Margaret) Hairston; her cousins, Larry Donnel Hairston and Jerald Hairston; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank those who prayed for Gladys throughout the years; God bless.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at 12 p.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering, and social distancing is required. Burial will be private.
