Obituary For John L Underwood

John L. Underwood was born to the union of the late Loveless and Betty Moore Underwood on September 11, 1950 in Gadsden, AL.

John made transition to glory on Tuesday, February 9, 2021. John was educated in the Gadsden city school system and graduated from Emma Sansom High School. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea for two years. He also attended Gadsden Technical School and received his barber certification. He retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, Gadsden, Al, where he was employed for over forty years. He confessed Christ at an early age. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loveless and Betty Moore Underwood; sisters, Theresia L. Underwood, Ronia Underwood Boyd, Ora L. Truitt; brother George L. Underwood.

He leaves to cherish his memories his beautiful daughters, Renay (Marvin) Lewis, Attalla, Al, Sonya Underwood, Decatur, Al. Grandkids, Beaunka Underwood, Armean (Brandon) King, Breunna Jackson (Kennedy), Hayward Underwood, Faith Brooks, and Mya Lewis. Two brothers; Alwin (Tracy) Underwood, Attalla, Al; Reginald (Astrid) Underwood, Hanau, Germany. Four sisters, Myrna Baker, Reginald (Lawernce) Tyson, Attalla, Al, Jacqueline Hamilton, Rainbow City, Al, Bernadette Bush, Gadsden, Al. Sister-in-law Corrie Underwood; one brother-in-law Charles Boyd, both of Gadsden. Mother of his children Dorothea Underwood Torain. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, eight great grandchildren, and dear friends.

Public Viewing will be 2-6 P.M. Friday February 12,2021 at West Gadsden Funeral Home Chapel.
