Obituary For Ms. Phyllis L. Cargile

Rock Hill – Ms. Phyllis L. Cargile, of 237 Bynum Avenue, Rock Hill, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Atrium Healthcare in Pineville, North Carolina.

A private service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, February 13, 2021, with Pastor Ruth Cargile and Minister Mitchell Reed officiating. A native of Elizabeth, New Jersey, Phyllis, affectionately called “Pheil” by her family and friend was the proud daughter to the late Herbert Cargile and Rosa Roberts Cargile. She attended St. Michael’s Catholic School in Elizabeth, NJ and graduated from Thomas A. Edison Vocational and Technical High School, where she received a certificate for cosmetology. She would later enter the Cosmetology program at Denmark Technical College in Denmark, SC. Being brought up in the church, at an early age she accepted the Lord as her savior and was a baptized believer in Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of the First-Born Church of the Apostolic Faith in Rock Hill, SC. and under the leadership of Apostle Phillip and Pastor Ruth Cargile she served on the usher board, kitchen committee and the praise team.

In 2019, she was elevated from Sister to Deaconess. She was proceeded in death by her father, Herbert Cargile.

She leaves to remember and cherish her memories; her loving mother, Rosa L Roberts Cargile; four sisters: Derris Sumerlin (Mortis Sr.), Janice Cargile-Knox (Gary), Hope Cargile-Jones and Tina Cargile-Wright (Robert); One brother: Kenneth Devero; 7 Nephews; Mortis Sumerlin Jr. (Godson also) , Duran Jones, Elisha Sumerlin, Chazz Sumerlin, Caleb Sumerlin, Brandon Jones and Maddox Wright; 2 nieces: Sydney Knox and Hannah Cargile; Goddaughters, Jalisa Hadley, Janeice Baxter and Tiauna Wilcher; Godson, Jachari Baxter and a host of other relatives and friends.

Parker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

My heart still aches for the loss of my childhood friend Pheil.I remember spending so much time with the Cargile family the memories will last a life time. I'm just sad I won't see her again.Rest easy my friend you have earned your wings.
