Melissa LaShawn Floyd-Glenn was born October 27, 1969 in Gastonia, North Carolina and departed this life February 9, 2021 in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the fourth of six children born to the late Jay Wylie Floyd Sr. and Barbara Ann Avery Floyd.

Melissa's Christian journey began at Berean Seventh-day Adventist church and as an adult she transferred her membership to Northeast Seventh-day Adventist church both in Charlotte, NC where she served in many capacities including Head usher and on the Hospitality committee. Melissa was a faithful member and loved serving church and community members that had fallen ill.

Melissa was educated at Berean SDA Academy, graduating from Ashbrook High school in Gastonia, NC. Following high school, she obtained certifications in Business Administration from Gaston College and Central Piedmont College of Charlotte, NC. Her work experience included Assistant Director/Lead Teacher at Saint Paul's Child Development Center in Charlotte, NC. Then she transitioned to working in the field of healthcare at Atrium (CMC) in 2007 as a Patient Service Specialist until her demise.

Melissa's passion was visiting nursing homes even though she did not know some of the people but knew that they needed someone to care. She always participated in feeding the homeless especially during the holidays. She was such a people person and met no strangers. She loved her family, especially her Gift from God De'Mario LaShawn Glenn and was known to her grandbabies as "Mama Honey". Melissa was a devoted mother and grandmother continuously sacrificing to ensure a better life for them. Her love, encouragement and bossiness will continue to inspire De'Mario to be himself and always put God first.

Melissa is preceded in death by her father Jay Wylie Floyd Sr. (2002).
