Obituary For Tony Earl Pugh

On Friday, February 5, 2021, our son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Mr. Tony Earl Pugh was called home to his eternal rest. Tony was born on November 1, 1955 to the late William Henry Pugh and the late Clote Parker Pugh in Martin County, North Carolina. He was the baby of ten siblings. He was educated in the Norfolk Public School system and attended Granby High School, but received his diploma from Frankfurt American High School in Germany. Tony eventually enlisted in the United States Army and made it a career. He retired on April 30, 1994 and after retiring, he began attending Norfolk State University. Tony also retired from the Civil Service where he worked at the Portsmouth Navy Commissary. Tony was a very kind, smart and driven person. He enjoyed learning new things and passing his knowledge on to the youth or anyone who had a listening ear. While deployed in German, Tony taught his fellow soldiers English. He was not only a teacher in his own way, but he also was an avid reader, a die-hard Redskins fan, a collector of antiques and enjoyed volunteering at the Veterans Administration (VA). He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Jessica Elizabeth Pugh; four sisters, Dorothy Bynum, Shirley Whitehead, Josephine Pugh and Mary C. Lewis; five brothers, Alfonzo Forest, Arthur Parker, Clayton Murphy, William Pugh and Milton Pugh; three grandchildren, Ashton, Jordan, Tina and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be held on Sat. Feb 13, at 12 noon in Steele-Bullock Funeral Home Chapel.
