Estelle away unexpectedly on February 12, 2021 at Morehead Memorial Hospital in Eden, NC. She was born in Henry County, Virginia on February 6, 1944 to the late Handy (Thorton) and Edward Roosevelt Martin. At an early age she joined the church in Bluefield, West Virginia. After graduating high school in Bluefield, Estelle moved to Mt. Vernon, NY. There, she built a career with the Longine Watch Company. She eventually moved back to Virginia with her daughter, Mary Jane Martin. Estelle retired from Nova Yarns, Eden, North Carolina. She loved talking about politics, was an exceptional cook as well as hostess and could make everyone in the room laugh with her humor. She loved watching Nascar racing, baseball, football, soap operas, and listening to down home blues music. The most important thing in her life was her daughter, family and good food. Estelle was also preceded by her daughter, Mary Jane Martin and her sister, Mary Magdeline Keen.
She is survived by: her brothers; Edward Martin (Eloise), Eden, NC, Earnest Martin, Sandy Level, VA., sister; Maude Martin, Sandy Level, VA. As well as a host of special nieces, nephews and cousins. Estelle will be missed by all of her family but leaves so many amazing memories.
