Homegoing Celebration for Brother Jimmy Louis “Cricket” McGhee will be 12 Noon on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at New Destiny Christian Church with Pastor Z. Andre Huff, Officiating. Interment will be at Lincoln Hill Cemetery. Brother Jimmy McGhee was born on May 20, 1951, to the late George McGee, Sr. and Jenester Bozeman McGee (Mama Jean), in Gadsden, Alabama. He heard his master’s call on February 15, 2021. Brother Jimmy was known in the Miller Heights Community as “Cricket”. He was loved by many for his dancing moves, grass cutting services, pulling out neighbors’ trash cans, and helping people move. He was a faithful servant in the church as well as in the community. He was educated in the Gadsden City School System.

He confessed to Christ at an early age at Goodsell Methodist Church and then later united with the Mount Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Willie Sayles, Sr. where he served as a faithful member of the usher board, choir and was keeper of the church keys. After Pastor Sayles, Sr. retired, Pastor Z. Andre Huff continued to make him feel at home. Jimmy said, he was a “Huff” boy and started dressing like his pastor. Jimmy touched many hearts on his Christian journey and was loved deeply by his Mount Zion church family. Bro. Jimmy had a big heart, always had a smile on his face and was willing to help anyone in need. He was loved by a host of relatives and friends.

Bro. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Emma Jean Johnson and Debra Scott; a brother, George Stanley McGee.

He leaves to cherish his memories: Siblings: Lorinza Thomas Sr., Susie Thomas, Patricia Merkerson, Millie Mostella, Waymond (Jean) McGee. His devoted caregivers were Elea Bradford, William “Ouija” Scott, Antonio & Jasmine Scott. He had a host of nieces and nephews: Anna (Earl), Lorinza Jr. “Bro”, Loretta, Vickie, Cassandra, Edwin, Elea (Christopher), Andre, Tonya, Deanna, Yolonda, Felicia, Patrice, Sherita (Preston), Monica, Arnold, Jenester (Hezey), Tara (David), Delvin, Kim, Christina, Jason, Timmy, Christopher, Warlando (Jessica), William “Ouija”, Tony (Jasmine). He was loved by a host of other great nieces, great nephews, relatives and friends too numerous to list. His special friends: Walter Byers, Dominique & Jason Gray, Odessa Evans, Bernard Kendricks, Brisker Family.
