Obituary For Donald Lacy

The Governor of South Carolina advises to limit public gatherings to 50 guests or less to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC carefully considered this recommendation and ask that additional guest please participate via live-streaming if it is authorized by the family.

Funeral Service for Mr. Donald Eugene “Dunk” Lacy will be conducted 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at J. O. & Annette Smith Memorial Chapel, 307 South Johns Street, Florence, South Carolina, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Florence, LLC.

Mr. Donald Eugene Lacy, the son of John Ellis Lacy, II and the late Silivia Ann Lacy, affectionately known As “Dunk” to his family was born July 7, 1972 in Florence County. On February 17, 2021, he departed this earthly life and went to see the King.

Donald was a Class of 1992 graduate of South Florence High School. He was employed with Ellis Construction in Florence, South Carolina.

Donald was loved by so many people he was truly a family comedian. He had a heart of gold and if he were here he would say “don’t forget about my boys” known as the Levi Park Crew.” He will be missed by all of his family and friends, but mostly his kids,

Donald was preceded in death by his mother, Silivia Ann Lacy; one sister, Timico Lacy; his grandfather, John Ellis Lacy, Sr.; his paternal grandmother, Thelma Lacy; his maternal grandmother, Irene Capehart; one uncle, Benny Capehart; and two aunts, Mary Lee Coward and Georgia Lee.

Donald leaves to cherish his precious memories; six children, Donald Lacy, Jr., Destiny Lacy, Dominique Lacy, Damon McCullum, Dawuan McCullum and Danielle “Oct” Mitchell all of Florence, South Carolina; his father, John Ellis Lacy, II (Sheila Jefferson) of Florence, South Carolina; two brothers, John (Sophia) Lacy, III and Jermaine (Niambi) Lacy both of Florence, South Carolina; two sisters, Felecia (Roderick) James and Youlandia Lacy both of Florence, South Carolina; eighteen grandchildren all of Florence, South Carolina; two dear cousins, Danny Drake and Donald Capehart both of Florence, South Carolina; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
