Obituary For Benita Hunter

Ms. Benita Vandora Hunter was born July 12, 1961 in Charlotte, NC. Her parents were the late Robert Hudson and Frances Flowers Lane of Mecklenburg County and Anson County, NC. Benita was educated in the Anson County school system. Upon graduating from Bowman High School in Wadesboro, NC, Benita enrolled at Bennett College in Greensboro, NC. In 1983, she received a B.A. Degree in Sociology. Benita also attended the Eagles Nest Bible College at Love and Faith Christian Fellowship. Benita pursued a professional career in the Public/Government Human Services arena. She held several job assignments in her career. These assignments include- DSS Work First Employment Services, DSS Child Welfare Division, and DSS Aging and Adult Services Division. Benita retired in 2016 with 20 years of service. Benita accepted Jesus Christ into her life on October 24, 1988. She joined Love and Faith Christian Fellowship in 2009 where she served in the Witnessing Ministry, Children’s Ministry, and Partners in Prayer. Benita also volunteered at TCT as a prayer partner. Benita was a doer of the Word. She was a believer who served. Those who will always remember Benita Vandora Hunter and miss her smiles, hugs, and loving care are as follows: Sister, Linda Flowers of Charlotte, NC; Sister, Tammy (Michael) Lane-Martin of North Brunswick, NJ; Brother, Kenneth (Laura Jean) Lane of Pomaria, SC; Brother, William Lee of Brockton, MA; Special Aunts, Frances Ratliff Wade and Daisy May; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and loving friends; Special friends- Denise Roberts, Shirley Forbes, Valencia Simms, Daphne Avery, and Faye Ramseur; and a host of church family members.

A public viewing will be held Monday, March 1, 2021, from 2PM- 4PM in the Cassie Coote-Brown Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home. A private Chapel Service will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home.

Sis Benita was the most endearing Woman of God. It has been my pleasure to be in class with her and to see the passion her had for God and the people of God. We knew Vandora as a beautiful little girl who blessed the Ratliff, Dixon, and Leak family when she came to live with our Aunt Mary and Aunt Frances.
