Wendell graduated from East Gaston High School, Class of 1985 where he was a member of the football team. After graduating, he was a Stanley Rescue EMT. He was also a Deputy for the Gaston County Sherriff Department.
At an early age he joined Springfield Memorial Baptist Church. Wendell was a good hearted, respectable, very talented man. He was a cook, best known for his Cheesecakes, a seamstress, a collector, repair man, saxophone player, brick mason, carpenter, jewelry maker, small and large engine repair man. He could literally fix anything, build or create it. A jack of all trades "the true definition" He could do anything but sing and dance.
Those left to cherish is memory are his children: Christian (Timothy) Roberts of Winter Haven, Florida, Arthur Lee Williams and Melissa Williams of Stanley, NC, two brothers: Greg (Evelyn) Williams of Stanley, NC Chris (Patricia) Williams of Charlotte, NC and one sister: Toni (Wilbert) Mark of Stanley, seven grandchildren: Adrian, Andre, Keyli, Corey, Myles, Kendrick and TJ, one uncle: Grady (Myrtle) Williams of Stanley, NC, two aunts: Frances Miller of Greensboro, NC and Margaret Rozzelle of Washington, DC, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 until 4
