The funeral services for the late Mr. David Lee Jones of Sylvester, Georgia, who departed this life on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. from the Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery in Sylvester, Georgia. Words of Comfort will be given by Reverend Lester Knox. Services may be viewed Facebook Live from the "Shipps Funeral Home" Facebook page.

Mr. David Lee Jones was born on August 26, 1938 in Sylvester, Georgia, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Willie "A. W." Jones and Mamie Lee White Jones.

David was educated in the Worth County Public School System and graduated from J. W. Holley High School in 1958. After graduation from high school, David further his education by attending Ft. Valley State College in Ft. Valley, Georgia, and graduated with a B. S. Degree. David was an educator in the Pike County School System in Zebulon, Georgia for thirty years until his retirement. After retiring, David enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and playing checkers.

David and Linda met in 1985, and were united in Holy Matrimony on June 26, 1993.

Our Loved One was called from Labor to Eternal Rest on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. His parents, his sister, Mary Jones Wright, his brother-in-law, John Wright, his niece, Lyndia Sue Wright, and a sister-in-law, Tracey Sindy, all have preceded him in death.

David leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Linda Jones; his children, David (Linda) Jones of Atlanta, Georgia, Tina Jones, Melva Jones, both of Macon, Georgia, Marcellano (Van) Smith of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Calvin Hardy of Sylvester, Georgia, who was a caretaker for his father; ten grandchildren, Tyrone, D.J., Alia, Alex, Cameron, Jaden, Jalani, Jordyn, Sierra, Ayanna; eight great grandchildren; nephews, Robby (Larita) Carroll, Carror "C" Wright of Byron, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane (Calvin) Davis, Madilyn Billinglsey, Stacey Smith, all of Albany, Georgia, Betty Polk, Diana Smith, both of Sylvester, Georgia; brothers-in-law, Curtis (Betty) Smith of Albany, Georgia, and Glenn (Marcia) Smith of Sylvester, Georgia; aunts, Eddie Mae Moore, Bobbie Williams; uncle, Wallace Hudson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him.
