Theodore matriculated through the segregated Gifford High School. He later attended Florida Agricultural and Mechanical College for Negroes (FAMC) and later enlisted in the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge from the United States Navy, Theodore lived in New York for a number of years and worked as a painter. Upon Theodore's return to Florida, he worked for the US Postal Service and later returned to the field of painting which he loved.
Eighty-eight years full of blessings is a treasure. Theodore shared his beautiful smile, laughter and kindness with everyone he met. He would talk to his family and friends for hours and enjoyed family gatherings.
Theodore was preceded in death by his siblings, Daisy, Willie, James, Curtis, Annie Ruth, and Lee Arthur.
Precious memories will continue to live in the hearts of his nieces , Juanita Andrews and Linda Joyce Andrews Phillips, nephew, Ronald Johnson (Netta), great nephews, Anthony Wallace and Thomas Andrews, III, great nieces, Renita Wallace Castro, Karen Griffith, Sharon Griffith-Willis, Shanta Phillips-Taylor, Nichole Phillips, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Public visitation for Theodore Gibson will take place on Friday, February 26, 2021 between the hours of 4:00pm-6:00pm at Stone Brothers Funeral Chapel in Vero Beach, FL. Funeral services will convene on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 1:00pm also at Stone Brothers Funeral Chapel in Vero Beach, FL. Burial will immediately follow in Gifford Cemetery.
