Obituary For Rev. Maggie Walls

Rev. Maggie Walls of Athens, Georgia was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 16, 2021. She passed related to complications of a rare hereditary disease called Amyloidosis.

She was born on April 6, 1919 in a town called Blanket Sound on Andros Island in the Bahamas. She was the daughter of the late Charles Taylor and Drucilla Taylor.

Maggie came to the United Stated when she was 24 years old. She lived in Miami, Florida for 6 months then moved to Chicago, Illinois. She lived in Chicago for 40 years. During that time she visited Athens, Georgia during the Summer of 1975. She loved Athens and said, "One day I'm going to live here." She secured property in Athens and lived here for 37 years.

Maggie attended some college but dedicated her life to raising her daughter. Later in life she became an ordained minister, a vocation that she has been called to fulfill since her childhood. She founded a church in Chicago called, "God Is" where she practiced healing prayers for groups of people and used the God given gift of prophecy to help improve people's lives. She continued these healing prayers for many years after moving to Athens.

Maggie is survived by her daughter, Barbette Walls and her grandson, Polaris Walls, both of Athens, Georgia, her sister, Irene Charlton of Nassau, Bahamas and numerous family members spanning the globe. She has been preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, John Walls, Jr., sisters Alice and Evelyn, and brothers Johnny, Willie, Calvin, and Cubell.

A private funeral mass will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.
