Mrs. Effie Lee Bias Coats was born on September 10, 1925 in Munford, Alabama to the late James and Pearlie McClendon Bias. She was the youngest of their 14 children. She received her education at Carver High School.

She confessed Christ at an early age and united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Turkeytown. She then became a faithful member of St. Paul Overcoming Church of God where Bishop Walt Higgins serves as pastor. She was a member of the mother board.

She was united in holy matrimony to Floyd Coats on December 27, 1947. To this union two children were born. She retired from the Alabama Trade School as a cook.

Mrs. Effie was a devoted woman of God with a humble and quiet spirit along with a kind and loving heart. She always saw the good in every person she met. She was a very generous woman, always ready and willing to help those in need. Like Proverbs 31:26, “She opens her mouth with wisdom; and on her tongue is the law of kindness.” Effie was an excellent cook who enjoyed spending time in her kitchen cooking and baking. She also enjoyed fishing with her late husband and with her friends. Mrs. Effie also loved attending her and her husband’s family reunions. She believed in the importance of family staying connected and loved to see all of her family together.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Floyd Coats, and her six brothers and seven sisters.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Two children; Floyd Larry Coats, Gadsden, Alabama and Marilyn (Jeffery) Rosser, Douglasville, GA. Six grandchildren; Tray (Mary) Rosser, Colorado Springs, CO, Phaedra (Corey) Bradford, Douglasville, GA, Nicholas Rosser, Powder Springs, GA, Sundi (Rongie) Cowser, Powder Springs, GA, Jeremy (Chae) Rosser, Dallas, GA, and Bethany Rosser, Douglasville, GA; a sister in law, Doretha Bias, St. Louis, MO; 11 great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Larry and Marilyn, sending my love and prayers to you and your families. Aunt Effie was the sweetest lady. Seeing her was always a pleasure because it was like I was seeing my Grandma Annie one more time. She looked so much like her oldest sis and they were both beautiful, soft spoken and kind. Every reunion she gave us our marching orders, carry on the reunion. So we shall. Please find comfort in knowing that she's at peace and safe in his arms. Della Ball Chicago, IL
