Obituary For Ernest N. Dixon

Ernest N. Dixon was born on May 10, 1966, in Pascagoula, Mississippi to Willie D. Dixon and Margaret Mitchell Dixon Ernest attended the schools of Pinellas County and was a graduate of Pinellas Park High School, Class of 1984. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in September 1984, serving until November 2005. He attained the rank of E7 Master Sergeant and served in Operation Desert Storm. Ernest was awarded the Global War on Terrorism and Korean Defense Service Medals. Ernest was employed as an Executive Reviewer with the Office of The Executive Correspondence, Department of Veterans Affairs from 2009 to 2021.

We will fondly remember his love of cars and his enthusiasm for keeping them clean and maintained. He had a deep love for music, movies, and animals. He enjoyed volunteering with the Special Olympics. Ernest loved tools, weapons, Darth Vader and “particularly good food”. He proclaimed to only wear the “Flyest Fits” and only got the “good stuff”. He was proud to have worked on $225 million dollar aircraft weapon systems. He was a master griller and made a mean pot of crabs. Words to describe his life: loyal, honest, organized, meticulous, loving and last, but not least, earnest.

Ernest N. Dixon departed this earthly life for eternal rest on February 21, 2021, Houston, Texas.

Ernest and I were station at Homestead AFB Florida, and Langley AFB Virginia together. It hurts that I won't be able to speak with him when ever I like. But that's only temporary, I trust we'll pick up where we left off one day in the future. God is good and I thank Him I had the opportunity to know Ernest. Although I'm three years older than Ernest, he always came across as being older than me. So professional and hard working. It took him a few years, but he finally showed me how to cook crabs, potatoes, and corn all in one pot. I'm so glad we discussed Jesus Christ on so many occasions. Rest in peace my friend. Our prayers are with all of you that love Ernest. David, Renee, David III, and Joseph Harris.

Sending my condolences, thoughts and prayers to the Dixon family and the Office of Executive Correspondence family. Words are inadequate to express the sadness I felt when I heard of Ernest passing. I met Ernest in 2011 when I joined the VA. He was an outstanding employee who was very meticulous when it came to ensuring work was done correctly and timely. I will miss getting his emails, giving me stern yet gentle correction for an error I made, something I overlooked or missed. He had an eye for details and never missed a thing. But it was a blessing because I learned from his guidance and it allowed me to grow professionally. I will miss him. May the God of all comfort strengthen you during this difficult time. --- Michelle Middleton

In loving memory of my BB (Big Brother). Words cannot express the grief in my heart right now. I can never forgot all the great times we shared in 10B1, including our fights. My family also send their condolence to Brittney, Darius and Killa. Please know that Ernest was definitely a BB to me. Even when he tried to be mean, the love in him overpowered. I'll miss our funny chats, via email, text or in person. I love you BB and will miss you greatly.

To the family of Ernest Dixon my heart goes out to you during this difficult time. I pray that our God will send the Prince of Peace, Comfort and Understanding. I've worked with Ernest since his arrival in 2009 we shared many laughs. He was a very loyal colleague and friend he will truly be missed by many. I myself as many are still in shock but I'll lean and trust that God's timing in all things. I will keep you lifted in prayer that in time when you think of Ernest and your many memories that you'll be able to do so with a smile. When we lose our love ones we never truly get over it but that pain and emptiness will one day become bearable and manageable. Colleague, Friend and Veteran Christie Reviere

Almighty GOD put people into your life for a reasoning: Ernest was more than a co-worker or Office Son. In my HEART he was the son I never had, my heart aches. I will miss hearing him each morning saying GOOD MORNING MOM. He would always leave me a gift on mother day, birthday, just anytime for no reason at all, he may be gone but will live on in my heart forever. Love you Brittney and Dari. Ms. Ann (Office Mom)
