Melvin Russell Kemp Sr.

Knoxville - Melvin Russell Kemp Sr., (Buge), age 85 of Knoxville, TN departed peacefully from this life, Thursday, February 25, 2021 at NHC Farragut Rehabilitation Center. He was born September 30, 1935 and was a graduate of Austin High School class of 1954. He retired from 3 employers (Valley Fidelity Bank, TVA and Y-12 Oak Ridge).

Melvin was preceded in death by parents; Edward and Margaret Kemp of Knoxville, TN; his son Melvin Russell Kemp Jr of Columbus GA and four brothers and five sisters.

He is survived by and leaves to cherish his memory, a very special and devoted daughter Margaret (Earl) Steele of Knoxville, TN; Melba Tate of Knoxville, Lela Kemp of Lawrenceville, GA, Lisa Range of Loganville, GA and a devoted Son, Marvin Kemp of Knoxville, TN, several grand and great-grand children; devoted sister Lois Keith of Knoxville TN and Geneva Ware of Knoxville, TN and devoted friend, Jackie Lundy Bingham, a host of other family and friends too numerous to name.

There will be a Celebration of Life Service for immediate family only on Friday, March 5, 2021 at the Unity Mortuary Chapel at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Dr. Valentino McNeal officiating and Bishop Zach Flack Eulogist.

Mr. Kemp will lie-in-repose on Thursday, March 4, 2021 from 12:00 p.m.-5:00p.m at the Unity Mortuary Chapel and on Friday March 5, 2021 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the Unity Mortuary prior to the Service. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the family respectively asks that masks be worn and social distancing be practiced. Unity Mortuary is honored to serve the Kemp family.
