Obituary For Mr. John Thomas Reed, Jr.

Mr. John T. Reed, Jr. of Grand Ridge entered peacefully into eternal rest on Friday, February 26th at Bay Medical Center at the age of 70.

He was of the Methodist faith and a member of St. Rose African Methodist Episcopal Church.

He worked for the Chemical Plant in Telogia for many years. After gaining certification as a Correctional Officer, he gained employment at CMHI Correctional Institution for many years. He transferred to Calhoun Correctional Institution, where he later retired.

John leaves treasured memories with his loving father, John T. Reed, Sr. of Grand Ridge, Florida; he LOVED his children, John T. (Candice) Reed, III of Gibsonton, Florida and Le’Tonya Reed of Blountstown, Florida; his loving grandchildren, Kimora Reed, Major Reed, Ebony Atkins and Monica Atkins; his loving siblings, Michael Reed and Carlton Reed, Elouise Reed, Lois Capehart, Abigail Reed all of Grand Ridge, Florida, Jennifer Reed of Marianna, Florida, Sherry (Stanley) Dawson of Bristol, Florida, Ilene Reed of Panama City, Florida and Veronica Reed of Quincy; a loving aunt, Alphine Reed of Blountstown, Florida; his loving caretaker, Sandra Baker of Sneads, Florida; a host of children that he helped raise; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, life-long friends and the St. Rose AME Church Family.

A public viewing will be held Friday, March 5th at Peoples Funeral Home Chapel from 3-6p.m.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held graveside Saturday, March 6th at 11a.m. at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Grand Ridge with Rev. Joe Tripp, Supt. Delano Reed, Rev. Mark Dudley, Rev. Christopher Baker and Evangelist Leslie Clayton officiating. Interment will follow with arrangements entrusted to the Caring Staff at Peoples Funeral Home of Marianna.

Our hearts are heavy,after hearing about the passing of our beloved cousin, affectionately known to us as "Jr". I will miss the other Brother that shared his knowledge and teaching me all about things I didn't know about life as it is here in Florida, he and I had soo much in common that I will never forget.
