Obituary For Mr. Raymond Hambrick

In profound sorrow we announce the passing of Mr. Raymond Hambrick. Celebration of life will be Thursday, March 4, 2021 11:00 am at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens 722 Conley Road Forest Park, GA 30297. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 3, 2021 2pm-6pm Grissom-Clark Eastlake Chapel. 404-373-3191.

From very humble beginnings in Clayton County, Georgia, Raymond was born on November 29, 1931, to his beloved parents Ms. Dorothy Lee Boyd and Mr. Zellman Brooks. He was a man of good character, great intellect, many talents, and impeccable style.

He purposed his life to be a great father, husband, an excellent financial provider, and fierce protector to his family. Although not formally educated, he was committed to education and learning. He wanted his children to be educated and afforded opportunities for a good life. Known to speak his mind, Raymond loved to offer wise counsel to help develop young men. He was a mentor and counselor to many.

Raymond was a man of many talents. He invented a tool that was and still is today used by the Sherwin Williams Paint Company. He received company-wide recognition for his significant contribution. The quintessential handyman, Raymond, could repair nearly anything with a motor (e.g., washers, dryers, refrigerators, cars, trucks) and more! Family, friends, and strangers alike sought his handyman expertise. Using these talents, he excelled at multiple entrepreneurial endeavors. For over twenty-five years, he was an independent owner and operator of a tractor-trailer repair service; for ten years during the same time, he consigned used home appliances, and he owned a property maintenance business. Raymond was ambitious, creative, and driven to succeed.

The family was his true passion and delight. Known for his quick wit, deeply held beliefs, and unwavering devotion to his family, Raymond loved to travel more than anything. "We are going to Disney World!" His favorite thing to do was travel with his children and grandchildren to Disney World in Florida. Over the years, he was fortunate to travel to many beautiful places.

Humorously nicknamed Billy by his daughter because of his love of shopping at Brooks Brother's and eating crab cakes at Capital Grill, he loved jewelry, cologne, and fine clothing. He believed a respectable man, wore a belt and clean shoes. One of his favorite sayings to his girls was, "Don't trust a man with dirty shoes. You can tell what a man is about by looking at his shoes."

Raymond was predeceased by his mother, father, two brothers, and one sister. His life and legacy will be remembered by his wife, Annette Hambrick; eight children, Janet Daniel, Connie Gay (Willie Gay), Vanessa (Ann) Hambrick, Dwight Hambrick, Angela Lowe, Roderick Hambrick (Joyce), Gala Edwards, and Sharon Hambrick; eight grandchildren Vanessa Sherita Hambrick, Kimberlee Parker, Amber Hambrick, Kelvin Hill, Anthony Edwards, Marsha Coleman, Annette Moss, and Makia McKinnie-Wilson, and eighteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of loving brothers and sisters-in-law, and other close relatives, and extended family.

He enjoyed being with his family, attending family gatherings, and passing along his wisdom and life lessons. His courageous triumph over life's challenges serves as a shining example of his faith in God and great love for his family. He completed his assignment, and it was time for him to go. He was a gift to all those who loved him, and now we have to give him back.

Today, we celebrate Raymond's life and give thanks to God for sharing him with us.
