Obituary For Aaron Shoemaker, Sr.

ONE DAY AT A TIME

Aaron Shoemaker, Sr. was born June 20, 1943 in Decatur, Georgia to Artica and Annie Lue Shoemaker. Growing up, he experienced all the laughter, lessons, camaraderie, and woes of a typical child in a large loving family. He was born the 3rd of 6 children in the Shoemaker household and before long in his early teens, began to work odd jobs to help support himself and the family upon the death of his father.

As Aaron was no stranger to discipline and good work ethics, he graduated from Trinity High School in Decatur, Georgia and sometimes worked two jobs, one of which was a career at Gold Kist, Inc. where he worked for 35 years until his retirement as a professional printer.

In June 1981, as life would have it, Aaron became a member of a worldwide fellowship that saved his life. In keeping with his normal fashion, Aaron was a disciplined, persistent, dedicated and respected member for over 40 years. In his own quiet way, Aaron was a gentle giant of great service, helping to change the lives of countless others. Aaron was also a member of the Salt and Light Truth Center for 17 years. This was his church family.

He was preceded in death by his parents Artica Shoemaker and Annie Lue Shoemaker and a brother, Larry Shoemaker.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Avery Morris Shoemaker; his sons, Aaron Allen (Thalia) Shoemaker, Jr. and Josten Shoemaker; his grandsons, Anthony and Antonio Shoemaker; granddaughters, Tori Shoemaker and Gabriell James; a great grandson, Logan Shoemaker; his step-daughter Lynnette (Willie) Harden; grandsons; Avery Perrin-Harden and Aaron Perrin-Harden; a brother, Willie Shoemaker; sisters, Thelma Myrick, Racine Shoemaker, and Katie Hardeman and a host of nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces; mentee, Greg Parker, who never forgot him, and many longtime friends, who said "he always remembered your name."

Aaron passed from this life on February 22, 2021.

A Celebration of Life Service in his honor will be held at Alfonso Dawson Mortuary, 3000 Martin Luther King Jr Dr., SW, Atlanta, Georgia 30311 on Sunday, March 7, 2021 at 3:30 P.M. Bishop Dedric Avery, Officiating.

My Prayers and condolences to the Shoemaker Family. What I Remember about my uncle Aaron is his smile as he was coming to grandma Annie house and he gave good advice. Death is a Sting. But one of my favorite scripture is found at. Revelation 21: 3 &4 were its talks about the tent of God is with mankind and he will wipe out every tear from all of our eyes and death will be no more mourning nor outcry nor pain being no more the former things have passed away we are looking forward to that time. Love the family and looking forward to when this pandemic is over we are visiting one another but in the meantime I'll try to do better and call. Daphne Miller

I would like to send my prayers and condolences to Avery , Allen, Josten and too my brother Willie, my sister's Racine ,Katie and Shoemaker family. I will miss my brother Aaron, my tall brother. Aaron was a loving and serious brother when it came to business. We always use to talk on the phone when we were younger but as life happens and we started having children we communicated a little less but the love was always there. Life like a mist appears for a day, Then disappears tomorrow. All that we are can quickly fade away, Replaced with tears and sorrow. I am looking forward to God's promise to seeing my loving brother again. Love Your Big Sister Thelma
