Mrs. Clara King Nixon, 50

Clara Fay King Nixon was born in Quitman, Georgia on March 16, 1970 to Sis. Nellie Mae King and the late Mr. Eugene King and of Valdosta, Georgia. From this union, she was the second child out of four born to her parents.

She attended the Madison County Elementary and Middle Schools and graduated from Brooks County High School in Quitman, Georgia. She also received Certification in Early Childcare Education at Valdosta Technical School in Valdosta, Georgia.

Clara accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mount Hope Baptist Church of Quitman. She later joined New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church of Valdosta and was a very faithful member until her death.

Clara was a dedicated member of the U.S Army and the U.S National Guard where she served over 20 years of faithful service and retired as a Sergeant First Class (E-7). She was also employed at Valdosta State Prison for 9 years. After retirement, she serviced the community as an Early Childhood Care provider in which she opened her own daycare. Later, she was employed by Valdosta City Schools in the cafeteria and at South Ga. Medical Center in the Security Department. She also was a caretaker for her father until his death. She is also preceded in death by two brothers Anthony King and Darryl Newsome. She was a genuine and special caregiver to many.

Clara leaves to cherish her precious memories a loving and devoted husband of 15 years Dea. John Nixon, one daughter Miracle Nixon; one son John Nixon Jr, all of Valdosta, GA; one stepson Montrell (Melissa) Green, Macon, GA; her loving mother Nellie Mae King, Valdosta, GA; brother Craig King (Jackie), Quitman, GA; sisters, Shonta K. Winbush (David), McDonough, GA; Cynthia King (James), Valdosta, GA; Linda King (Al), South Carolina; and Lisa King, Virginia; mother-in-law Minnie Mobley (Rickey), brother-in-law Curtis Nixon (Pam) all of Folkston, GA; sister-in-law Tammy Benefield, Chesterfield, VA; uncle Lonnie King (Carolyn), Valdosta, GA; aunts Ethel Brown and Barbara Porterfield, Quitman, GA; God- daughter Tamiyah Sharp; very dear friends Ann McEady, Danny & Brenda Sermons and Tavaris & Leola Sharp; a host of family and friends that will love and miss her dearly.

Funeral services were Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Quitman with Pastor George W. Blunt officiating.
