Throughout his adolescent years, Curtis attended the public schools of Richmond, VA. In the late 1960s, Curtis relocated to High Point, NC, where he obtained his GED from G.T.C.C. (Williams Memorial C.M.E. Church Site). For over twenty years, Curtis was a devoted member at Williams Memorial C.M.E. Church. Curtis was employed with Mickey Body Trucks as a painter until he retired in 2015. His last place of employment was Michael Thomas Furniture.
Curtis leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 48 years, Flora Preston of the home; two children, Melinda Green of Bennettsville, SC and Curtis Leroy Preston, Jr. of High Point, NC; four grandchildren, Tylec Shuford, Sayvon Preston, and Aaliyah Preston all of High Point, NC, and Any'Ja Green of Bennettsville, SC; six siblings, Maylean James of Richmond, VA, Julius Preston, III, Shirlene Preston, Linda (George) Leach, Anthony Preston, Gwendolyn (Colian) Little all of High Point, NC; one sister-in-law, Linda Willis of Bennettsville, SC; three brothers-in- law, Kenneth Brown, Ronald Brown, Jeffery (Wynona) McCall all of Bennettsville, SC; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and acquaintances.
A private memorial service will be held Monday, March 8, 2021 at Phillips Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends at the chapel from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
