Obituary For Edward Lee "Slim" Sawyer

On Wednesday, February 17, 2021, Edward Lee Sawyer “Slim” completed his earthly journey. He was born on June 9, 1946 to the late Eugene Buck Sawyer and Anna Lee Sawyer Coleman of Portsmouth, Virginia. Edward attended Portsmouth Public School System. He was very multi-talented and loved cooking and being a carpenter. He was married to Delores S. Sawyer and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in February 2020. He was predeceased by his two children, Pamela Sawyer and Michael Sawyer; seven siblings: Joseph Sawyer, Eugene Sawyer, Anna Lee Sawyer, Major Lee, Clifton Antonio, Sandy Alonzo and Mary Hardy. Edward is survived by two daughters, Vernette (Tally) Larrymore and Valerie (Keith) Johnson; seven sons, Edward A. Sawyer, Edward (Quirston) Inman, Don Washington, Lamont Brown and Edward Kingsbury all of VA as well as Eugene Macklin and Vernon (Leon) Macklin of FLA; three brothers, James Smith, David Sawyer both of VA and Charles (Alice) Coleman of GA; six sisters: Gloria Mabry, Jeridean Coleman Smith of GA, Delma Coleman of NC, Carolyn Coleman of CT, Barbara Sawyer and Mary Sawyer both of Portsmouth, VA; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Service will be Wednesday, March 3, 2021 - 11:00 a.m. at Steele-Bullock Funeral Home.
