Obituary For Marion Barnett

Marion E. Barnett, 93, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021

Service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 5, 2021 at Hunter-Odom Funeral Service, 121 S. Fairview Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27801. Burial will follow at Gardens of Gethsemane.

Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.

Aunt Marion, my sweet, classy, fashionable aunt! I wish that I was able to travel to NYC to visit you and Uncle Eugene before your untimely passing. Thanks for being so kind to me when i was in undergraduate, grad school, visited NYC on business, popping over when nearby for frat conventions. I truly enjoyed my last visit in August 19. I check in with Uncle about twice a week - he even calls more as you always suggested. May you Rest In Peace beautiful. — your nephew Eugene D.

Marion Barnett... true family friend and loved as a sister. The Barnett's opened their hearts and home to our family with open arms. She will forever be missed (Mattie Washington). Aunt Marion was an angel in our hearts. Her and Uncle Gene helped mold me to the man I am today and the time spent with her will never be forgotten. Will always remember her way of saying "Oh, Gene" when the two of the them would tease each other! I'm going to miss that and our birthday dinner celebrations at City Island or Red Lobster.
