Obituary For Demetrius King

Age 73 passed on March 2, 2021.Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will be March 12,2021 from Mt. Hebron Church Ministries at 11am. Interment will follow immediately to the Alabama State Veteran Cemetery.

I served as a "Combat" Security Policeman with Demetrius King under heavy fire in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, from October to December 1969. He was a fine Airman. I posted some photos at https://obits.al.com/us/obituaries/mobile/name/demetrius-king-obituary?id=6893854 The first photo was taken when we arrived at a small USAF remote radar site, Detachment 9, 619th TCS located on US Army Camp Coryell, the home of the 155th Assault Helicopter Company. The second photo is King pointing to an impact site of an enemy 82mm Mortar, one of a great many that rained down on us. "King", like the rest of our 8 man team, volunteered for this especially hazardous duty. I know he contributed to the safe return of all of us in that unit. I can't express in words how my heart aches. To my nieces and nephew, please know I am here for you in any way. I remember being little and your dad, my brother would pick me up and gum my chubby cheeks. He always had jokes, good jokes. I will miss his guidance and our conversations. I know he is at peace with made a now. God do not make mistakes. Remember those great days and remember what he taught you. My heart is heavy but God is good, all the time.

To my nieces and nephew, from your Aunt Rene(Taranja Rene Griggs) I know it will be hard but God will give us the strength to carry on just remember all of your father's teachings.Remember to use him as a role model as you watched him being a vessel for God. When he turned his life around he never looked back to his past life and him as he followed Jesus as his role model, we must do the same. God will be our guide and lead us down the right path way. And we have your Aunt Pat to be our guide in the right direction and I'm here if you need me day or night you all have my number.I love you with all my heart and your dad my oldest brother will be greatly missed.
