Obituary For Ezell Jones Sr.

Ezell Jones, Sr. "Papa Louse", 92, of Harrisburg, peacefully transitioned into eternal life on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at UPMC Pinnacle Harrisburg Hospital.

He was born in Winser, Louisiana, son of the late Herbert and Rosie (King) Jones, retired from Laborers Local 1180, a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, played baseball with the former Harrisburg Giants and coached little league baseball for the Northeast League for many years. Ezell was the widower of Thelma "MaMa Louse" Thompson Jones and in addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Avada "Skeet" Jones; his grandson, Shakka Kimber and his great-grandson, Miles Johnson. He leaves to celebrate his life; his daughters, Bernita Tyson (Kirk) and Tammy Marie Peterson; his sons, Kenneth Jerome Jones, Ezell Jones, Jr. (Pelbea) and Rondell Waters; his sisters, Lola B. Hines and Sheraldine "Tiny" Cook; his five grandchildren; six great grands and a host of other relatives and friends. His life will be celebrated on Monday, March 8, 2021 in the Sanctuary of his Church at 1331 S. 14th St. with a Public Viewing from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m., followed by a Private Family Funeral and burial in William Howard Day Cemetery. COVID-19 Guidelines will be observed with face masks and six feet social distancing for all attendees. Arrangements entrusted to Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton.
