In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Olden Hodge; her son, Jessie Alphonsa Hodge; one granddaughter, LaToi Pace; four sisters, Dora Lee Hairston, Lillie Bell Moyer, Josephine Hairston, and Mamie Hairston; and four brothers, James W. Hairston, John Hairston, Henry Jack Hairston, and Franklin Hairston.
Lucy was a member of Jerusalem Christian Church (DOC). She worked for Hampco Apparel, and she retired from Peoples Drug Store after ten years of service.
Lucy leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Priscilla Hodge (John) Johnson of Charlottesville, VA, and Ethel Laverne Hodge of Martinsville, VA; daughter-in-law, Lois Hodge of Maryland; one sister, Patricia Johnson of Martinsville, VA; two brothers, Reverend Joe Lewis Hairston of Martinsville, VA, and Samuel Hairston of Preston, VA; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Carver Memorial Gardens with Reverend Joe Lewis Hairston, Eulogist. A public viewing will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2021 between the hours of 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC, a face covering and social distancing is required.
